How to calm and control an unruly kitten?
My family and I adopted a kitten from some little girls giving them away. Their cat had just had kittens and they couldn't keep them. We (and the people at petsmart) estimate that he was about 6 weeks old when we got him, as he already had top and bottom teeth, etc. At first, he was very docile and slept a lot. I understand that kittens will become more frisky and playful as they grow, but it seems Felix is completely hyperactive. Every time I try to pet him, he claws at my hand and bites my fingers; every time I walk, he jumps at my ankles and bites me; every time I'm lying down asleep, he'll come bite my face. It's only after I leave him out the entire day to run around that he'll finally curl up and chill out at around 1 in the morning. I try to play with him and wear him out, but he is beginning to get on my mother's nerves. Do you have any suggestions to make him less unruly?

LOL! Your kitty sounds like MY kitty, who is 6 weeks old today.
"Brutus" has taken to roughhousing with me, and giving me little nips on my face, fingers, arms, etc. Perhaps he was trying to tell me he was hungry, so I gave him some KMR in a dish, and once he gobbled that all down, he settled down. You could also just say in a firm voice, "NO"!, and put him in another area...my Brutus gets put back into his "box" for some time out. Repetition is the key, and positive reinforcement for when he's a "good boy".
I'm sure he would appreciate some good cat toys, and cat "trees" that he can climb. Like a small child, he has tons of energy!
Kittens ARE frisky and lots of fun, but they do need to learn not to hurt their owners. Mama cat wouldn't put up with their bad behavior, nor should you.
Be sure to get him nuetered by 6 months of age, and that will also calm him down.
Congratulations on your new "baby"! I bet he will grow into a fine, well behaved kitty, and a loyal, loving companion to you and your family.
