In the South West of England lies the beautiful county of Cornwall, with its fabulous beaches, coastal walks, quaint harbour towns and top attractions. There are numerous beaches and coves waiting to be discovered which offer the perfect retreat for all the family. Gardens in Cornwall
The Lost Gardens of Heligan:
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are magnificent gardens that are situated in Mevagissey near St Austell and offer over 200 acres of exploration. These diverse gardens include Victorian gardens, ancient woodland and a lush sub-tropical jungle.
Eden Project:
One of the most famous gardens in the UK, if not the world, The Eden Project is definitely worth a visit. The Rainforest Biome takes you on a journey through the rainforests of Malaysia, West Africa and South America and the Mediterranean Biome takes you across the equator to South Africa and onto experience the Californian landscape. The Eden Project also has an Education Centre and has recently emerged as being top musical venue hosting a range of renowned artists and bands.
Family Attractions in Cornwall
Crealy Adventure Park:
Crealy Adventure Park is the perfect day out for the family. There are a number of wild rides and mythical adventures to keep all the family entertained. If the weather turns sour there are two huge indoor play areas. There is even a Toddler Zone for the litter ones.
Dairy Land:
Situated in Newquay, Dairy Land has a host of things to do. Children can enjoy visiting the large number of animals, ride the ponies and even have the chance to milk the cows! There is also an adventure playground and a nature trail to keep you occupied.
Beaches in Cornwall
Crantock Beach:
Crantock beach near Newquay is maintained by the National Trust. It is a very large beach and backed by sandy dunes which offer a haven for children to play in. The beach is popular with surfers and is great for families as there are toilets, a cafe and a shop for the beach essentials. There are many scenic coastal walks and hidden coves nearby if you get a little restless relaxing on the beach.
Watergate Bay:
Another large beach on the north coast, Watergate Bay is a beautiful safe and sandy beach, however you have to get there early in the summer as parking can be a bit tricky. This beach is home to a rustic and quirky beach cafe and is also where Jamie Oliver has his 'Fifteen' restaurant. Additionally, if you want to try out a few water sports then there is an extreme academy where you can attempt surfing, kite surfing, paddle surfing and stand-up paddle surfing.
These are just a few attractions that Cornwall has to offer, however there are many more such as historical houses, castles, picturesque coastal towns, museums and an abundance of art galleries.
