What to do about Wedding No-Shows?
7 of my family memebers did not show up to my wedding- now I know that stuff happens, but I think that it was an attempt to "teach me a lesson" as a family unit for not including children in the invitation (all of them and their signifigant others come from the same parents and none of them including the parents, showed up, leaving and entire table empty at the reception. Myself, my mother and our wedding coordinator repeatedly asked them, even as close as days before the wedding and they kept saying they'd be there. If they had no plans on coming, or could not find a sitter or just thought I was a hateful B**ch for not including their kids, if they'd had said they weren't coming- it would not have hurt my feelings. Looking at that empty table & thinking about all the guests who were DYING to come who I had to say "no" to and having them miss out is what hurt. The wasted money on their plated dinners hurts. I think I should write them a letter about it, my mom disagrees. Who's right?
Don't let the fact they didn't show ruin the memory of your day. They might of had a legitimate reason for not coming or maybe not. The fact is it is their loss not yours. They missed the wedding not you. Don't write a letter just send a simple card that says "Sorry you were unable to attend our wedding. We would of really like to have seen you." and thank them if they sent a card or gift.
